Changllenges of eCommerce

So I thought I would blog some of my thoughts about the challenges of eCommerce.

Customer and Employee Satisfaction
Not all employees and customers are familiar with internet platforms. When both parties are comfortable with the control they have over activities, there will be greater progress in employees' performance and customer usage of the internet.

Integration of Digital Network
Companies are often reluctant to convert to digital networks because of the high initial investment involved and also because of the complexity associated with integrating the digital network with their existing system. However, increased efficiency in the long run, should be enough reason to justify digital network implementation.

Privacy
Privacy of information is often threatened by digitisation for those whose systems are not protected by high security.

Disintermediation
Disintermediation is described as the disintegration of the middle men in the trading chain. This often brings the customer and provider closer together. However, in this process, there are job losses associated.

Customisation
Customers are sometimes unable to customise their product. This is partially due to the lack of electronic communication between customers and suppliers, and partially due to the fact that customers are not used to expressing details as they would in person.

Immediacy
There is still improvement to be made in terms of customer response. Customers get instant answers when they do transactions in person. Tardy customer response will discourage ecommerce business.

Security
It is difficult to trust intangible information. Concerns related to digitized information include authenticity, integrity, origin and receipt, and confidentiality.

What are your thoughts?
