Joshua Cyr's Gravatar Sometimes downloadable products means more than the software, but also a license file or key or some such thing. Though making the key or file may be outside the scope of the cart, having a plugin architecture to add that trigger to create the file or key would be handy.

Regarding Addons for a product one option I have sought but often can't find for pricing of adons is - % of total main product price (ie purchase subscription for 20% of software price).

Also for software downloads having a members area to log in and get access to said license files, keys, software, etc. for specific period (or version or lifetime or until subscription isn't renewed).

Subscription model of some kind. Sell access keys used in other part of a site, or to get access to members area of cart for downloads, etc. There may be 'no cost' items that one has to be a subscriber of to see for example.

Bout all I can think of that are often not in a system but may be handy to consider when building one from scratch.

Ben Arledge's Gravatar I'm particularly interested in an ecommerce package that is good at handling subscriptions. Basically an Application Service Provider oriented utility that is able to tie into different payment gateways and can provide multiple levels of its service. One time item as well as yearly/monthly recurring billing. I also think robust reporting is something that deserves a great deal of attention. Can't wait to see what other suggestions come in. :)

David Stamm's Gravatar For years and years and years I have been wishing for a 3rd-party ColdFusion e-commerce application that completely separated business logic from presentation. My customers want their online store and its control panel to blend seamlessly with all the other things we're building for them. I don't want to hack into a 3rd-party solution to get it to look a certain way. I want to build my own front-end and talk to your e-commerce black box via method calls.

Please, please, please... can someone separate business logic from presentation?

nick tong's Gravatar Hi David, if you check out the mailing list you will see that this si one of the main objectives of this project. The project is running somewhat slow currently due to a few people being very busy, but this project will certainly have seperation of concerns.
