What's the incentive to the CF community over something like a Facebook or (gah) MySpace group? I'm not trying to be overly critical here, but the value of a social networking site is directly proportional to the number of people who sign up, and the more sites there are, the less valuable all of the others become. What's the killer feature?
I did sign up though. ;)
What I like about it - and the whole ning network thing - is the sole focus on ColdFusion. There have been CF user group leaders (I am one) struggling with the best way to unite the groups and their users under one cohesive banner. This is it.
Brian, IMO the difference is the focus of this network. With the others, the focus is YOU, and your interests, which is cool, but only a small part of that may be CF. I think this network put the spotlight squarely on CF, and the people that use it.
I intend to sign up all my CFUG members to the site at the next meeting (as in, have them register at my computer, there and then!)
Cheers,
Davo
