Stop iPhoto launching when you plugin your iPhone

If you, like me, have been rather annoyed that iPhoto keeps launching when you connect your iPhone then here are some steps to stop it.

The issues isn't actually your iPhone - it's image capture. It sees you iPhone an a camera - so to stop it you need to change the setting to launch iPhoto when a camera is connected - and here's how to do that:

  • Launch Image capture (hold apple key and press the space bar - then start to type in image capture and you should see it come up)
  • Select the preferences (click image capture in the top right and select if from the drop down)
  • In the drop down (items to launch when a camera is connected) select do nothing.

Bingo - that should fix it.

Phil Porter's Gravatar Thanks Nick, how are you doing?

This has been bugging me for ages, but i've never got around to searching for a solution, no need now though! I've also come across a good plugin for iphoto - it adds an 'export to facebook' to it:
