help give children equal protection from assault

A little off topic but if you're British and can help, it would be great if you could email your MP support the statement calling for a free vote.

Currently the law protects adults from being hit - but gives children less protection. In April MPs will have the chance to vote on giving children equal protection.

We [NSPCC] urgently need your help now to persuade the Government to allow MPs to have a free vote. Otherwise Labour MPs may be compelled to vote against equal protection because that is what the Government wants. More and more Labour MPs are demanding a "free vote" on this issue, which means that they want to vote according to their conscience rather than the party line.

A free vote is vital to achieving equal protection for children in 2008. Please help us by emailing your MP, asking them to support the statement calling for a free vote for Labour MPs.

Yahoo launch streaming tv

Yahoo have launched there streaming video service http://live.yahoo.com. With so much interest in Yahoo recently one might think that they would like to get things right. Sadly this launch has crashed already. While the service promises to be great they should have thought about how popular this service will be. They are offering a nice API with their service:

Within the API are two parts, the AJAX/Javascript side, for controlling the object embeds, and the REST API, used for determining what broadcasts and channels are available on the service.

As mashable say the service is in "pre-beta, not just the API" so maybe i'm judging them to soon. It will be interesting to see how things progress with this service - it's one to watch.

New site launch: artreview.com

Just a quick note to say that us here at Talkwebsolutions.co.uk have helped launch a new site for a great contemporary art magazine http://www.artreview.com. If you're into art then this is a must see/'be part of' site. What you should be able to check out is the CF apps that we've integrated into the platform:

spotlight: a digg app for the arts world
art finder: a quick and easy artist and gallery directory
art news alerts: Google alerts for the arts world.

Let me know what you think - we have a few more great apps going into the platform over the next 3 weeks and more on the drawing board. This is a great time to be in social media!

As always the sites in beta so if you spot anything odd please let me know

2007 has been a great year for TalkWebSolutions. Our development team has grown and we have forged new close working relationships with web designers. print designers, print houses and web copy companies.

New clients have ranged from World renowned Art Magazines to music websites and the NHS and we have continued to improve our portfolio. 2008 already looks very promising with some great new products ready for launch.

On the community side we have put ColdfusionCommunity.org online as well as kept up with news over on cfFrameworks.com. 2008 should see a lot more action from cfCommerce.org.

Mr T and WoW

Whilst eating a very unhealthy bag of chips for my dinner I decided to check out youtube and stumbled over this:

Mr T rules!

Stupid Barclays Bank

I've just spent 20 minutes on the phone to Barclays trying to find out why I kept getting an "error code 02".

The reason for this apparently is because I've used the word 'Contract' in my payment reference - what the hell? You've got to be kidding me right. </rant>
