Block sublinks in google search results

If you are lucky enough to have a site with lots of traffic you may well have noticed that when you search for your site in Google you have sublinks appear showing your most popular site content.

This is all well and good but sometimes the sublinks just don't quite fit. Well to solve this you can use Google webmaster tools to fix is:

To block a sitelink, first ensure that you have verified ownership of the site. Then:

1. On the Webmaster Tools Dashboard, click the site you want. 2. Under Links, click Sitelinks. If we have sitelinks information for your site, we'll display a list of sitelinks. 3. Click Block next to the sitelink you want to remove. Please let us know why you want to block the sitelink - it will help us improve the way we generate and display sitelinks.

Note: Once you've blocked or unblocked a sitelink, it can take some time for your changes to be visible.

cferror.org

Adrian Lynch has launched a new site called... you guessed it

http://cferror.org/

[The] site that documents ColdFusion errors so you can search for solutions and of course submit your own errors either to get a solution or to help out others who might come across the same one.

There's still a bit of work to do on it (need 'beta' in the logo really!) but I thought I'd get it out there sooner rather than later to see how it gets used.

Good luck with the site Adrian.

Speed up your database by removing autoclose

On one of our DB servers when we installed it we went with the default setup - what this did though was configure the databases load and unload when they were not being utilised (an option called autoclose).

This option should be disabled on all DBs to increase performance. Here is a nice scirpt from the helpful people at Rackspace:

Sadly I have to stand down from CFDevCon

Sadly due to a rather busy last few months I no longer have time to work on the CFDevCon conference and have to stand down.

I have to say that it's been a great experience trying to set this up - needless to say it's also been a lot of hard work. It's amazing how much work goes into these things and for that I want to thank everyone who organises conferences for all their hard work.

It's been a very hard decision and one that's kept me awake awake at night but due to business commitments I no longer have any spare time to help out with it's organisation.

oh no - I destroyed my tempdb table in MSSQL

Ok - so im not ashamed to admit it so yes I destroyed my MSSQL tempdb table. So what is this table?

Tempdb is a system database used by SQL Server to store temporary tables and temporary stored procedures, for sorting, subqueries, and aggregates with GROUP BY, ORDER BY, for cursors and so on. Tempdb database contains only temporary objects, so if you want to create a permanent object, do not create it in the tempdb database.

If you have done the same and need to restore your tempdb table then simple follow these steps:

New transfer lexicon: listByPropertyMap

As you may or may not know I'm quite big fan of fusebox and one of the things I love is its power with lexicons.

Alex Lloyd, from my company Talkwebsolutions, today put together a new lexicon for Transfer. This lexicon allows use of the lisByPropertyObject from within Transfer.

Nice work Alex.
